Now Hiring: A Newsletter About Staffing, Recruiting, and Talent
August 2024 – The Fourth Edition
Hi everyone,
The good news is that we’re heading into a holiday weekend here in the U.S. The bad news is that we’re saying goodbye to summer.
But at least we have the below news to keep us reading:
📈 Good News for Bosses: Worker Productivity Rises
Productivity is on the rise and workers are putting in more hours, according to a survey of hiring managers released today by Robert Half.
🇮🇳 And Good News for India: A Skilled Workforce Can Make It Developed by 2047
India should invest in creating a skilled workforce, putting in place a better infrastructure while undertaking land, labor and taxation reforms to meet its aspiration to become a developed country by 2047, according to International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) deputy managing director Gita Gopinath.
😞 Not So Good News for Employees: Workers Lose Hope for Promotions, Raises
Though Americans are a little more confident about their job security in the second quarter of 2024, they’re losing confidence in the likelihood of a promotion or raise and losing trust in company leadership.
🆘 And Bleak News for Robots: Some of Their Projects Could Be Dumped Next Year
At least 30% of generative AI (GenAI) projects will be abandoned after proof of concept by the end of 2025, due to poor data quality, inadequate risk controls, escalating costs or unclear business value, according to Gartner.
🤖 However in Recruiting, the Robots Are Helping in Big Ways
AI adoption in recruitment has skyrocketed, according to employment platform iHire’s 2024 State of Online Recruiting Report released Aug. 20. The poll found that 14.7% of employers now use AI in recruitment, up from 4.9% in 2023.
BY THE NUMBERS
💰$47.3 Billion. The amount of revenue the largest U.S. healthcare staffing firms have generated altogether, according to estimates from Staffing Industry Analysts.
